Midway Shelter serves 15 male and female adolescents, ages 11-17 years.  The residential and educational program runs 365 days.  Students are designated CHINS or delinquent court-ordered into placement by the NH court system.

Programs and services are based on inclusive education, both regular and special education, counseling, structured living and learning opportunities, community service, focus on values, ethics and life skills.  Midway shelter works closely with local school districts and sends LEAs to provide the services needed to meet educational needs and comply with IEPs.

The mission statement of the Midway Shelter is “respect and responsibility to self and others.”  The staff of the shelter employ the Normative Approach, a philosophy that encourages students to build positive communities by engaging them actively in those communities, helping them to develop healthy norms for the members, and challenging them to go outside their comfort zone to learn and grow.
